The ancient Greeks believed that pearls were the tears of the moon.
According to Greek mythology, this priceless treasure of the sea is associated with the birth of the goddess Aphrodite and subsequently with female creativity and pure beauty.
Another myth wants the pearls to be the tears of joy of the goddess Aphrodite.
The ancient Egyptians associated pearls with Isis, goddess of healing and life.
Others believed that they were created from the tears of Adam and Eve after their son Abel was killed by Cain. Eve’s tears became white pearls while Adam’s were black, like the night.
And others that they were formed from the tears of angels.
They are believed to bring luck, love and wisdom. They are believed to make relationships between people stronger and closer.
According to Chinese mythology pearls fall from the sky when dragons fight with each other.
Real pearls are living jewels. They often retain their moisture by absorbing it from the ambient air or the wearer’s body. It is important to remember that lack of humidity can evaporate the water they contain and dull their polish.
To protect and preserve your pearls, we recommend not wearing them before your personal care and grooming. Contact with sprays, colognes and perfumes can damage them. It can cause them to lose their shine or get unwanted spots. That’s why you should always wear them with care and after you’ve worn your perfume first.
For the time you are not wearing them, it is good to take care of them regularly. Their care is simple and only involves wiping them frequently with a soft dry cloth. Nothing more is needed. Of course, make sure that the cloth does not have residues from previous use of chemical cleaners.
No special conditions are required for their storage. The only thing you have to be careful about is that they don’t come into contact with other jewellery because they can get knocked or scratched. It is best to store them individually inside a soft cloth to avoid bumps.
